Description, This tool automates many of the tasks described in Chapter 12, "Deploying in an Extranet Environment," of the resource kit and in the
white paper titled "Deploying Microsoft(R) SharePoint(TM) Portal Server 2001 across an Extranet." This tool configures your SharePoint Portal Server computer to work with additional host names, including fully qualified domain names.
Installation:
You can run spsconfig.wsf from the SharePoint Portal Server resource kit compact disc. You can also copy spsconfig.wsf to a local directory and then run the script.
To successfully run the script, you must be logged on to the computer as an administrator. This account must also have read access to the workspaces to verify that the configuration completed successfully.
Usage:
Double-click spsconfig.wsf and follow the instructions.
To use the tool from a command line and omit the user interface, type spsconfig.wsf -help and follow the instructions.
You can use the tool to configure a new host name and corresponding proxy settings. You can also use the tool to configure proxy settings only.
Troubleshooting/Warnings:
The tool reports any errors that occur as it configures Internet Information Services and the proxy settings for the SharePoint Portal Server computer.
