Here is a listing of web parts that you can use in your portal to enhance productivity and administration. NOTE: There no warranty, express or implied, by your use of any of the tools referenced on this web site. No support is provided for any of the tools. Administration Announcements Authoring Tool: Create and manage announcements from within the portal. Add News, Announcements and Quick Links using this tool. Create a Corporate Web Part Gallery: This paper will help you create a gallery in which to hold your web parts and tools. Extranet Configuration Tool: Use this tool to configure your extranet. Category Sort Tool: This tool sorts categories alphabetically. Category Smart Tags: This tool automatically smart tags categories in a document. Workspace Management Tool: This tool allows a Coordinator to management a workspace from within the portal. Events Authoring Tool: This tool allows you to create new events from within the portal.
Workspaces Workspace Import Utility: This tool allows you to import workspace information from an XML file that was generated by the Workspace Export Utility. Workspace Export Utility: This tool allows you to copy an individual workspace to an XML file, then import that workspace onto another server or save it for future use. Workspace Archive Tool: This tool allows you to archive a workspace and then process that archived information with customized code that you wrote. Workspace Integrity Checker: Use this tool to check the integrity of your workspaces.
Documents Document Templates: Use this tool to create Office XP documents using templates. Document Undelete Tool: This tool will allow you to undelete a deleted document in the document library. XML iFilter Tool: This tool allows you to crawl and index XML documents. Server Latency Tool: Track how long it takes to check in a document with this tool. Edit Action Web Part: This web part will add the Edit link for each document in the library to allow the document to be immediately opened in its native program. Document Usage Tracking Tool: Use this tool to see which documents in the library are accessed most frequently. Document Status Tool: This web part will let you know which documents are checked out and to whom they are checked out.
Reporting Status Reporting: This web part will give you a status report for all content sources for all workspaces on your SharePoint server
Dashboard/Portal Category Management: Manage categories from within the portal. Listing Personal Dashboards: This web part will give you a list of all the personal dashboards in a workspace, their last date modified and other pertinent information about each dashboard. Execute SQL Commands from your Portal: This handy web part will allow you to execute SQL commands from the dashboard. Rapid Portal Tool: Create portals quickly from templates using this tool. Instant Messaging Services Component ToolBox Web Part The Chameleon tool. The Chameleon tool allows users to "skin" a SharePoint Portal web site. The SPS Chameleon tool is an easy-to use wizard that lets you build and apply different "skins" to any SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) site. Its main purpose is to allow you to change the look and feel of an SPS site so you can quickly demonstrate SPS or the Microsoft Solution for Intranets.
Search and Indexing Extend the Advanced Search Feature: This web part will give you the ability to use the Advanced Search Feature in the portal to search document properties. RTF Tool: Crawl RTF documents with this tool. Index Active Directory Tool: Use this tool to crawl and index AD users.
